As businesses re-open and life returns to normal, we’re asking San Diegans to Get Back to Fabulous! Come back to the Hillcrest businesses you love and support them so they can get back to business. Get Back to Fabulous doesn’t mean everything is back to normal, but it does mean we’re getting back to normal.

Let’s Get Back to Fabulous by taking the following community supportive steps:

Order your dinner directly from neighborhood restaurants. Below are a list of restaurants that are still open (and it’s growing even day). When you order directly from a restaurant rather than using a third party delivery app, you keep more of your money local and supporting your favorite businesses.

Max out your tips. Remember that many restaurant staff are struggling now and over tipping is a great way to show your support and appreciation. And remember, many people working in neighborhood restaurants are at greater risk of exposure. If you have the means, please consider a higher tip!

Visit your local Farmers Market. The Hillcrest Farmers Market is open again after a brief hiatus. By stocking up for the week at the market, you support family farms and have access to safe and fresh produce. Find our more and get a look at this week’s vendors at www.hillcrestfarmersmarket.com.

Your Guide to Fabulous

With a span of over a dozen blocks along University Avenue, the neighborhood has staked its claim of diversity with the 65 foot tall Hillcrest Pride Flag at Pride Plaza on one end of the rainbow, and its famed and historic Hillcrest sign on the other.  The monumental rainbow flag on the east end serves as a community gathering point for celebrations, rallies, special events and also serves as the starting point for the nation's third largest LGBT Pride parade.  Pride Plaza also hosts the Hillcrest Farmers Market, known as San Diego's largest and best farmers market.  The market features over 175 vendors every Sunday - rain or shine - from 9am until 2pm.  On the west end, the Hillcrest sign marks the heart of the community, an area filled with quaint shops, restaurants and thrilling bars-  said to be the area where "Sunday Funday" was born.

Just south of Hillcrest sits Balboa Park, the largest urban cultural park in North America and a hub for recreation, arts and culture, and community gatherings. The park is home to 16 museums and performing arts venues, ornate Spanish-Renaissance architecture, 1,200 acres of beautiful gardens and the world-famous San Diego Zoo.
